Founded in 1971 by Chuck Lewis, Copper Mountain became Summit County's youngest ski resort when it opened for skiing in 1972. It was designed with alpine sport in mind and is still known as a true skier's mountain.
In 1997 resort was purchased by Intrawest and has undergone quite a transformation from just a skier's mountain to a 2.433 acres year-round ski resort with shoping, dining and night life.
The resort has been recently sold to the POWDR Corp., owner and operator of 6 other ski resorts, including Park City, UT.
