Dillon, Colorado was originally established as the trading hub of the county, situated at the confluence of the Blue, Ten Mile and Snake Rivers. However, after several years the town fathers found that it would be better to move the town to the north side of the confluence to better serve the increased traffic from the train lines and pack trails.
With the construction of the Dillon reservoir, came the necessity to move the town again, it's current location being above and on the shores on the Dillon Reservoir.
Dillon Marina and Dillon Amphetheatre are in the center of summertime activities; many visitors come to the Dillon Barbeque Challenge taking place in town of Dillon every August.
